Leaving US after entry on CR1 visa

Hello all,

I just want to confirm what I understand the rules to be.

We will travel to the US in July and that will be my wife's first entry into the US. She will get a stamp on her visa that is a one year temp green card. They will mail the actual green card to our USA address, but if we leave before we get that, it is no problem as long as we are not gone for more than six months, and come back before the one year temp stamp expires.

Do I have it right?

The six months is a general guideline, so I wouldn't push it too close to that date, but yes. Essentially, you have it correct. Once she's stamped with the CR1 visa, that is the green card, without the actual plastic card.
