Did I just mess up?

I was checking the USCIS website on who to make the check out to but never found anything!

Now I'm checking visajourney and it says to make it out to U.S. Department of Homeland Security !

Do I have to get a new check?

U.S. Department of Homeland Security is indeed where you need to adress your check to. Did you already sent the petition in? Otherwise, get a new check with the right information on it.

Normally there is no RFE...If you are lucky and I mean lucky, there were some cases were they accepted the check and stamped it with U.S. Department of Homeland Security and went through...pray they will do the same. If not, then they most likely send back the entire package and you have to write new check and re-send it again.

Good luck and let us know how it goes...I am cheering for you they will let it slide even thought they make it clear how they want it written to.

Yes, you messed up. Each petition instructions have very clear instructions who to write the check to, for some reason people don't read them...

I was on my phone at the bank on the website and I couldn't find anything there. I went through many links and still couldn't find it.

It wasn't until I got home and got on my computer that I was able to find it (after I saw it on visajourney).

It's fixable, I called the bank and they said I could take the check tomorrow and have it adjusted.

Oh, you mean you did not send the check yet?? Just replace it with new one and this time write it the correct way.

I haven't sent it yet.

Think I was just anxious because this is one of the last things I need before I sent it.

Good thing I noticed the mistake.

From this page, where you download the form, there is also a link to the form instructions > https://www.uscis.gov/i-129f

What Is the Filing Fee?

The filing fee for a Form I-129F is $340.

There is no fee for Form I-129F petitions for classification of an alien as a spouse of a United States citizen.

Use the following guidelines when you prepare your check or money order for the Form I-129F filing fee:

1. The check or money order must be drawn on a bank or other financial institution located in the United States and must
be payable in U.S. currency; and
2. Make the check or money order payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

NOTE: Spell out U.S. Department of Homeland Security; do not use the initials "USDHS" or "DHS."
