I-693 Problem

Hi every one, it was brought to my attention from a person on another thread that Even though the uscis website states we can bring the I-693 to the interview, I'm going to get an RFE for not sending it in.Can any one tell me what I am supposed to do now? I already sent the AOS packet about 5 weeks ago and received the bio metrics appointment.I submitted a letter in the aos packet with the pertinent Uscis website info stating we would bring it to the interview.

Do I send in the medical now, alone to the California service center?( I am in CA)

Also None of this makes any sense to me. Why do they give the option to bring it to the interview if its not an option?They essentially are just lying on the website and That really pisses me off when I am trying to follow the rules. Am I missing something? is it for some specific class of filers?

1.Submit Form I-693 by mail, together with your Form I-485, Application to Register for Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, to the location specified for your Form I-485 (see “Direct Filing Addresses for Form I-485”).
2.Submit Form I-693 by mail, after filing your Form I-485, to the location specified in your most recent communication with USCIS (for example, a Request for Evidence letter from USCIS).
3. Submit Form I-693 in person, at an interview in a USCIS field office (if an interview is required).

Just wait for the RFE. If you sent it separately then it won'y get matched up with your file.

Page 4 of the i-485 instructions say to include the medical report with your application, unless you are a refugee.

Respectfully Mrs Timsah, I know your intentions were to help, but I believe your wrong on this particular matter.Upon researching this issue further I have found that uscis changed their guidelines within the last year or so so that the medical is only good for 1 year, regardless of when your interview date is. This was causing many people to have to pay for multiple medical exams and so the uscis clarified on their website(not reflected in the older uscis forms that you referenced) further for any one looking for more info, NOLO published an update on this issue that can be found here

You are not adjusting from a family based visa(filing for a parent), so you will definitely have an interview. I recall answering in a previous thread of yours on this exact topic. > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/590196-i-693/

USCIS updated their policies on submitting the I-693 when the validity of the medical became a year, no matter how long the adjudication of your case would take. They offer those options of submission in their instructions, and you followed them. Some people get a letter that is not an actual RFE letting them know they will need to submit the I-693 if they have not yet. Unless you get an actual RFE beforehand, just take the I-693 to the interview. Not sure why you are stressing so bad over it.

I submitted I-485 without Form I-693. I received RFE stating to do medical but NOT TO SEND it at this moment. When I finally got official interview letter they stated that I need to bring I-693 to the interview, which I did. Everything was alright. So Id advise you to wait for RFE or any letter from USCIS. In the mean time you can go and do your medical exam just so you are ready.

Kay, I dont mean to sound like I am stressing. I got conflicting information replying to a different topic and needed clarification. i appreciate all our insight and help. Becca, thank you so much for you experience on the matter, it is very helpful to know what to expect. Tismah I will let you know what happens, who knows what uscis will do.
