Today, USCIS posted a proposed USCIS Fee Schedule. It is not a good news for applicants :)Note: THIS IS A PROPOSED USCIS FEE SCHEDULE.

Current fee ($)Proposed fee ($)Delta ($) Percent change

N–400 Application for Naturalization ............................................................. 595 640 45 8

N–470 Application to Preserve Residence for Naturalization Purposes ...... 330 355 25 8
N–565 Application for Replacement Naturalization/Citizenship Document .. 345 555 210 61
N–600/N–600K Application for Certificate of Citizenship .............................. 600 1,170 570 95
So, if you are not a U.S citizen yet, consider to apply for naturalization now.
If you have a certificate of Naturalization/Citizenship, keep it carefully to avoid lost or damaged.
And if it is extremely necessary to apply for Certificate of Citizenship for your minors, apply it now OR apply for a U.S Passport instead.
Full schedule had been attached. You can read it if interest.

Oh, boy! When I get my naturalization certificate, I will buy some kind of fire and waterproof safe with 20 digits password (which makes it toddler proof) just to store the certificate. With those prices it's going to be 5 times cheaper than ordering a new one ?

The save thing is that, the pay of the workers processing these forms stays the same and the process remains at the turtle pace. smh..

18% INCREASE ON I-751, THATS CRAZY

Someone whose I-751 was adjudicated after 11 months due to the slowness at VSC, if they are going to hire more adjudicators and improve processing times, I'd be willing to pay twice as much without hesitating.

Instead of increasing the prices, why don't they just give the option for an expedited service for people who are willing to pay more?

By the way, the suggested fee increases are not limited to N400, it would be good to have this discussed under another category.

$1,170 for N-400 :wow:

US Citizenship should be given out free!

Are you looking at the same table? It shows the suggested fee for N400 as $640. Only a $45 (or 8%) increase. Suggested fee for N-600 is $1170.

I think that an option of expedited service does not work in N400.

Imagine if someone paid an expedited service, and it ended up later (because of background check) than another person who did not pay an expedited.

In other words, It would infuriate who pays more.....

A lot of these fees are based on what government calls as "burden hours", I am not sure how long it takes to process an N600 on average but last year out of the 7.6 million petitions USCIS received, there were 63thousand N600s, less than 1% of all petitions. It's not like their budget would go over the roof with the increased N600 fees.

To put in perspective though how much increased fees could the affect number of applications, when they increased the N400 fee to $680 in 2007 (used to be $400), the number of applications they received that year was an all time high with over a million applicants. Currently around 700 thousand. I don't expect a 45$ fee increase for N400 would force people to file before new fees are in effect.

Wow. Those increased frees are really something! O_o I129F, I-130, and AOS fees all proposed to go up, and I'm sure it will not improve anything with how they actually handle the cases.

OMG THIS IS INSANE!!!

I am just at the beginning of my journey, not even at the 10 year green card yet

Why are they charging more?

The workers are going slower then ever before and making more errors then before

So are we giving more money just for even more mistakes

Smh
