Does anyone know how long the police certificate is good for. Immigrant is Moroccan. Do they need both a police record and a court record?. Do they need to be translated to English and can they be copies that you send to the NVC. I am confused as to what goes in this package and I am trying to send this off as soon as I get case number and fees paid. Case number should be assigned any day..

Yes, they need both a police record and a court record (fiche anthropometrique and cashier judiciare). Police certificate has a validity of 3 months if I remember correctly (usually they need to get an updated one later to take to the interview with them). Everything needs to be translated by a consulate-approved translator and copies of everything + translations goes to NVC. Originals must be taken to the interview.

Go to the bottom of this webpage to get the PDF for Casablanca. It has the info about civil documents.

Actually, the pdf says the police certificate is valid one year. What it doesn't say, but that I do know for a fact, is the birth certificates in Morocco are only valid for a few months.

Check the PDF list with the NVC civil docs list and you'll see the only additional thing Morocco requires is the court record. Everything else is pretty much the same.

Sorry for the multiple posts!

How does a birth certificate have an expiration date? I understand police records and court papers but your birth certificate never changes.

One would think, but that's how it is in Morocco. I sure don't get their logic on that one.

? What does a loved one do when they are here for their AOS it may be expiered by the interview.

You may want to try and see if USCIS accepts it. I think the validity period of three months is pretty much held to when you're dealing with the consulate in Morocco and the Moroccan Embassy in New York. It's such a short period of time that I would think USCIS would be lenient/understanding, but I don't have experience with that at this point. I've asked my husband about it, I'll let you know what he says.

The one report is dated for 3 months and i was worried as it was going to expire beforela interview but no problems ( la mochkila) they did not ask for another at interview

the other report for driving record does not expire

You need them to be trans;ated into and attached to originals /and NO / not copies for NVC / not for Morocco / you will get an RFE saying these are not original as the paper size for Morocco is different

when sending the documents to them put your CSB case number and both DOB in upper right hand corner of each and every page

make sure you keep copies for yourself

incha allah

good luck to you

Can it be a certified copy and not the original copy, and just bring the original to the interview. I am not in Morocco at the present time and my husband would have to mail to me and I do not trust the mail getting to me. I was thinking that the man who translates the papers for us could email to be after my husband gets them certified. I would like to get everything done quickly. If my husband has to mail these forms to me, how does he, UPS, fed ex or what. I dont want a RFE.

police reports have to be original with attached translations remember paper size in morocco is longer

cronopost from morocco to here is about 4 days

and you can track

about $35 to mail all the documents needed for NVC

this is Morocco so do not take advise from anyone not doing the embassy in morocco interview

my attorney for 1st interview sent copy to NVC and they returned it saying NEED ORIGINAL PAPER IS NOT CORRECT FOR MOROCCO

  • Effective November 12, 2014, it is no longer necessary to send original documents such as birth and marriage certificates to NVC. A photocopy is acceptable, along with translation if the document is not in English. When you come for the interview, always bring the original documents with you. You must continue to send the original Affidavit of Support to NVC.

You can visit Casablanca embassy : http://morocco.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas.html
