Step 1: Select an agent error

I tried to complete stage 1 on the NVC but got this error:

The selected Case Number and Invoice Identification Number combination you entered does not match our records. Please try again or contact the National Visa Center for further assistance.

My case number was assigned April 14th. I called NVC that same day after getting the error message, and the guy said to give it 24 hours. I've given it more than that, and it still shows. Anyone else have this experience recently?

There is an error logging in for anyone with a case # like this - ABC2016XXXYYY where XXX is 600 or higher (which yours would probably be 605 if it was assigned April 14th).

Oh, you had heard somewhere about this? Is it a matter of waiting a number of days or something NVC has to fix (if you know)?

Several folks (myself included) were told by NVC agents that if you have your email you should be able to login. They are under the impression that it is a technical issue that needs to be fixed. Others have said "just wait X days". I got the case # and IIN for my wife's on Tuesday April 12th and I'm still not able to login.

Long story short - Nobody really knows and/or can give a straight answer. If they don't have it "fixed" (in whatever capacity) by Tuesday I'm probably just mailing my payments in.

Wow - that's a hassle to be delayed at this point!!

If you mail in payment (step 2 I presume?), it won't be accepted till Step 1 is complete, right?

gryphon - have you guys already received the welcome 'letter'/email from NVC (AskNVC@state.gov)?

Yes, I'm also using a lawyer, so I don't have the same Step 1.
