My fiancé and I were denied yesterday in Ghana. The officer was nice but serious my fiancé said. She asked him questions about particular people she seen us talking about in our messages, he answered correcrly. She asked of my previous marriage, and my children he answered. Everything was going well according to my fiancé but at the end of questioning she proceeded to say, 4 years in a relationship, no marriage and no children, I'm sorry Mr.Annan but I feel your in this relationship just to obtain a visa. That is all for the case. Can someone suggest what we should do now. PLEASE HELP!! still currently in Ghana for another 3 weeks or so. Thank you!

This is crazy. Now the US embassy in Ghana is denying people for being in longer relationships. Awful! It just doesn't make sense. Sorry about this. I guess maybe they expect you to marry and file Cr1 to prove he's not in this for visa as she suspects. How did you guys meet?

Once you two are convinced that you know exactly why he was denied and can address that, then I will suggest you go ahead and marry immediately and file Cr1 when you get home.

My suggestion also is to get married and file when you get back, but 3 weeks may not be enough. I'm not sure how it works in Ghana, but you may need time to file and the release of the marriage license. Also, I'm not sure if you need to obtain a legal capacity to marry at your embassy before you get married.

Before rushing to get married, I would contact your representative immediately and see if they can assist your fiance in getting a second interview. Explain that you are in the country and would like another interview with yourself present if possible. I also have seen a case where a member had a similar situation and had several friends/family members write in to the embassy in support of the relationship, which was successful.

I would agree that you should get married and file for a CR-1. They can't make judgement about children, who wants to bring up a child when their other half is on the other side of the planet? My fiance and I aren't having kids until we are ready not when someone else says we should be.

Kastrs, which representive are you referring too and where do I call??

I agree. I would contact the embassy, let them know you are the petitioner and would like to have another interview with you present. Do not wait!

You can also try contacting your senator or other congressman from the state in which you live in in the USA. Google them you will see a contact email and/or a request for assistance link.

Get your congressman or senator involved ASAP! Be prepared to get married as a back up option. And if you do get married, make sure you have your husband to sign all the paperwork that needs to be signed.

good luck!

They should realize that most couples will keep from getting pregnant until they can be together for the birth of a child. I am always amazed at the people that get pregnant before being together , to me it seems that they are the ones that aren't in control. Try to get a second interview before you leave. Not sure about the requirements to marry in Ghana, Nigeria requires a lengthy posting before the marriage.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Ironic isn't it. They say children do not prove anything except that the two parties had sex, yet now they are denying visas for no children. Can't win either way! :bonk:

OP uses the term relationship, which I have seen before used not in the normal context.

I think in every case I have seen there has been much more pertinent information so lets see.
