It's been about 45days since I filed my application, but still I can't check my status online, and they want me to make an appointment at a local office... Anyway one experienced this situation? I started to panic.. :( I was so excited to be able to apply for a job finally cuz I'm so tired of having to sit at home when I don't have a car!!!!

So here's the story.

I submitted my AOS documents in the beginning of March, received NOA1 and checked was taken about a week after that.

I've been almost 45 days, which they usually say the time frame for it to update the receipt number in their system, but still now I'm not able to check my status for I-485, I-131, I-765 with the numbers they gave via NOA1.

I called the USCIS customer service (had to call like 5 times to figure out how to talk to the real person). I gave them my receipt number, the date I got NOA1, my name, my A-numbers, SSN, every information but they said they don't have my information at all in their system. The lady I was talking to asked whether I've received my biometrics appointment letter, which I haven't received yet.

She tried to find some information about it but she said she does not have access to such info, so she referred me to higher position. Then I talked to other lady, starting with my all information over again, and she was still not able to find my information.

All she was able to find was the K-1 visa process under my maiden name, nothing else. She made it sound like this kind of situation was very new to her too, she made me wait for more information for like 20 minutes, asked my name again, my parents' names, other information again but still no clue. Finally, she told me to make an appointment at the local USCIS office and find out what they can do about it. I've made an appointment at the local USCIS office but I'm not sure what/how exactly they are going to do.

I think I'm going to make a fresh copy of the applications just in case but the part I don't really understand is that it was them who gave me the receipt numbers. I don't exactly know how their system works and it's frustrating. Anyone heard or experienced similar issue? (They made it sound like my application is missing somewhere but I don't know if I just could have waited longer and see.)

Any comments will be appreciated! Thank you.

Go to the Infopass appointment with all of your copies of your AOS documents, including your NOA1. I would suggest that you make a copy of it and allow them to have the copy, compare it to the original, with you keeping the original. That NOA1 Form I-797c is your official document that they acknowledged receipt of your AOS package, and fees were accepted.

Surely they should be able to get it sorted out for you. If not, the DHS Ombudsman may be your next recourse in the case of the government's loss of your AOS packet.

Thanks for the reply! I didn't know about DHS Ombudsman. Just hope I don't have to go thru this, though!

My appointment at the local USCIS office is two weeks from now. Hope I will be able to see it getting sorted out there. Will report progress if any.
