Hi All,

Just sharing my experience with my v-journey.

I got here through a K1 visa last december, got married in january (L) and filed our AOS case on the first week of february. We also filed my EAD and AP at the same time. We had my biometrics done on March 8... within three weeks (March 30) after my biometrics was done we've received a letter in the mail from USCIS saying "Welcome to United States of America, your case has been approved and you will be receiving you permanent resident card in three weeks. After three days, we've received another mail from USCIS and......it's my green card! My permanent resident card.

Strange as it is, the process was so much faster than what I have expected. I was actually thinking i'll be getting my GC in three months after biometrics appointment as I'm basing it on most timelines here. I also did not received any EAD and AP, I don't think I need em now that I have my permanent resident card, or do I? I didn't undergo any interview neither was sent an interview appointment. So am I all set? (until the removal of conditions before the gc expires)

Am I allowed to work legally now in the US? Does this usually happen? Im kind of baffled, but nvtheless thankful. :D

Congrats!!

My wife and you have almost the exact timelines. She entered the US on a K-1 in December, we got married end of January and filed for AOS early Feb. She received her GC in the mail today.

You no longer need the EAD/AP. The GC trumps both. You are all set....you can work, get a drivers license, re-enter the US and bla bla bla. You are now considered a permanent resident of the US. Congrats again!!

So it does usually happen. Im happy it didn't take long. Perhaps, February aint a peak season to file the AOS.

WOW! how is this possible? My wife has been waiting since September 2015 and there are others who has been waiting longer than us. This process is really frustrating as USCIS is not consistent with their process. I believe someone on here who has been waiting for over a year. Just doesn't make sense who they issue GC within weeks, months and years.

But this is by any means against you. A congratulation is definitely in order. Congratulations on your super fast AOS processing. Cheers!

Congratulations!

We have a very similar timeline as well...late January marriage, early February AOS submission, and early March biometrics. We received word that my husband's GC was approved last week, and today our case was updated to say that the card was mailed to us. There seems to be more and more quick GC approvals lately...no idea why, but USCIS works in mysterious ways sometimes. We are just feeling grateful that this part of the process went quickly.

Thanks and Sorry to hear bout your long wait. I have read in another forum that sometimes it depends on how backed and busy the uscis office is handling your case. So keep crossing fingers.. Your wife's gc will arrive soon. They test our patience sometimes. Best of luck

Congratulations! I'm guessing that February wasn't a bad time to submit the AOS. You'll have your gc in no time! Cheers

We had almost the same experience! Entered/ married in January, AOS filed/approved February, biometrics March, EAD approved April 11 followed immediately by AOS approved on April 13. We are still pinching ourselves!! (I thought at first it must be a data entry error) Congratulations to everyone, this is such a relief :)

We are especially grateful because the civil surgeon in London filled out the vaccination sheet wrong (my husband was up to date on all shots but it wasn't signed that way) but we took a gamble and just didn't submit anything (let the medical in his file stand) and it paid off.

Again congratulations everyone and welcome to the USA!!

Congratulations to you all :dancing:

Can you folks think of anything you did that allowed for such an early approval? Was it just filing in February? Everyone seems to have different local offices...

I thought maybe it was because we are older (both 47) and have had the same well paying jobs for over ten years? maybe they are testing doing it this way for cases where it seems like there is a very low chance of fraud? Or maybe we just mailed on the right day!

Not sure really.. As on another forum on another website says it depends on how backed up the uscis office is, assigned to your case. If they're all piled up then def it'd take long. Also, it might count that feb is a less peak season to file the AOS as its in the beginning of the year compared to September - December where there's a lot of holidays in line. I've also heard that if you came from a K1 visa there's 60% chances you'd get approved on your AOS and no need for an interview.. But who knows.. Sometimes USCIS are very unpredictable...

My wife's has been stuck on ready for interview status since December 8th

Sorry to hear that :(

But just keep your fingers cross. You can keep checking on your case status on their website though by typing in the receipt number of your case.
