N-400 evidence

1. Would providing only tax transcripts with the N-400 application under the "Married for 3 years" rule be considered insufficient?

2. Have there been RFEs for sending what was stated above?

I've read many posts about providing more evidence for 3 years (option 4a of the Document Checklist) and less evidence for 5 years if the couple is still married. However upon reading the list of evidence for the basis of marriage, the last 3 years of tax transcripts (Option 4c) seems satisfactory.

I submitted only the tax transcripts for 2012 2013 and 2014 with other paperwork required with the N-400. I'm now in-line for interview.

From what I've read on VJ in more recent times, applicants didn't face any issues sending just tax transcripts when mailing the N-400 package. In general, people don't get RFEs for N-400. However, some IOs have asked for additional evidence during the N-400 interview. If the applicant didn't have a particular document that was requested during the interview, the applicant was asked to mail the document following the interview. There was a recent post where an IO said to an applicant during the interview that USCIS is planning on updating instructions on wanting more evidence than just tax transcripts. So my two cents worth would be that it's okay to send only tax transcripts when mailing the N-400, but bring few more documents (maybe joint bank statements, lease etc.) for the actual interview. Again, my opinion is purely based on what I have read from VJ.

That's what I thought and since you have the option to submit only 3 tax transcripts, why is it being suggested to submit bank statements, proof of address, wills, health insurance, mortgage/lease, etc. like with the ROC?

- Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certificates of children; OR

- Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-certified copies of the income tax forms that you both filed for the past 3 years; OR

- An IRS tax return transcript for the last 3 years.

So I picked the last one.

I'm not sure that the rest of the material is even needed for the interviews, because like you guys said, the material was submitted during AOS and ROC, so why do we need to do it yet again? I'm starting to pull together my interview packet, and will probably get all that together anyway.

So I picked the last one.

That's why I was confused about the 3rd "OR" being suggested only for those who were still married and had a GC for 5 years or more and the 1st "OR" for those who were still married but had a GC for less than 5 years. I would pick the last one as well.

I'm honestly not sure all that material is needed. I get that a number of people were asked for their birth certificates at the interview, for example, but I can't imagine that would be applicable for the majority. Why do they need my birth certificate to check that my name and birthdate are correct? They already have a copy of my passport that has my birthdate in it.

Bank statements, joint lease, etc? Like, we already did all that stuff for AOS and ROC, why are we having to do it all again just because we're filing based on USC marriage?

Hi,

I am confused now, my friend she just got her citizenship and she told me she submitted basically everything they ask PLUS a copy of the ROC evidence.

So do I have to send my 2 pound copies PLUS what they ask?
