Question about n-400 processing time given my case

Hi everyone,

So from what I've noticed, most of the people naturalizing on this forum are spouses of USC who immigrated to the US on k-1 or cr-1 visas.

However my case is different. My aunt sponsored my father for Permanent Residence and I came as a dependent.

By July, I will have been residing in the US for 7 years. I have no dependents, i.e. spouse or children, and the n-400 is purely on my behalf.

What I wanted to know is that if in this specific case, USCIS can process my n-400 faster than the average that's shown on the timelines or will it still take just as long. Also do they have quotas on issuing naturalization certificates depending on your current nationality?\

hi

how you got your GC doesn't make any difference, each city and state has a different processing time depending on the amount of cases they have

no quotas, the oath ceremony depends again on how many people they have to take the oath

Timeline depends on many factors, be patient it will come eventually.

N400

12/06/2014: Package filed

12/31/2014: Fingerprinted

02/06/2015: In-Line for Interview

04/15/2015: Passed Interview

05/05/2015: Oath letter was sent

05/22/2015: Oath Ceremony

Yes, because most of the wait is the paperwork sitting in a box, waiting for someone to have time to look at it. There IS more paperwork for a "3 year married" naturalisation, but looking at that may take 30 minutes more once it is on someone's desk, so the extra time for the marries apps is not significant.

Thanks Penguin, that's what I mainly wanted to find out. Guess I got a long wait ahead of me :)

That depends on where you are :) in some local officers, it takes but a few weeks to go from filing to oath, in others it can take 8-ish months.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

When did you send your N400??

I'm single i.e. no children never been married, as well.

I don't think that "single" status can accelerate your application but no criminal history definitely can.

I don't think that "single" status can accelerate your application but no criminal history definitely can.

I sent it the beginning of this week.

And I don't have a criminal history. Doubt that's a common occurrence on the n-400 applications, is it?
