1 cover letter or 2? Aos and ead. Easy quick question!

I know there is a lot of info out there about this but I've read different things and clarification would be helpful since I'm filing tomorrow! Most of the info I've seen is around 2010 when it seemed they had different filing addresses.

Q: Do I need 1 cover letter for both I-485 and I-765 or do they each require their own?

Thank you!

You are sending in one package with two or more applications? One package = one cover letter.

I'm in the midst of compiling my AOS packet too. I have one cover letter explaining what's in the packet and then there will be three different "sections" since I'm filing 3 different applications; one with the I-485, one with the I-765 and one with the I-131. Each of these will have their own cover letters. There's A LOT of supporting documents to include for the I-485 so it makes sense TO ME to have cover letters for each of the applications :)

Our Visa Journey (L) (See our Immigration timeline for a very detailed K-1 and AOS process)

08/17/2015 - I-129F petition/packet sent off
12/17/2015 - Visa Interview in Sweden. We're APPROVED!!!
01/14/2016 - P.O.E. @ Newark International Airport
03/21/2016 - Got married @ town hall
03/22/2016 - AOS, EAD, AP packet sent off
08/03/2016 - Became a Conditional Permanent Resident
05/07/2018 - ROC packet sent off

06/12/2019 - ROC approved (no RFE, no transfer, no interview)

What many people who have successfully completed their AOS (including ourselves, K1/K2) was to state all of the contents of the AOS/EAD/AP package on ONE cover letter. Though, we had two AOS/EAD/AP packages, one for my wife and another for my stepson. It isn't really going to matter, USCIS will "slice and dice" up the various application, sort them, and them off for adjudication. It is likely of more importance to make sure that all of the applications and evidence are complete and accurate.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

You can do it however you like. You can use one cover letter that lists everything, or you can use a cover letter for each application. It really doesn't matter.

The cover letter is not a required document. It is for your benefit only, to help you keep your AOS packet organized and for you to make sure you have everything included. Once your packet is received, your cover letter(s) are essentially thrown out.

Some people use one cover letter to list everything for AOS/EAD/AP. I used 3 cover letters, one for each application. No issues either way you do it.
