Deadline to enter the US after visa approved?

Hi,

I'll be applying for an immigrant visa for my mother while she is still living abroad (and I am in the US). One thing I'm not clear on is whether there is a deadline of any kind to enter the US once she's had her interview and the visa has been approved? It's hard to plan how long the process may take, so I'd hope my mom would still have a few months of flexibility to get things organized before leaving for the US.

Thanks a lot!

I just noticed in the "received-nvc-welcome-letter-does-it-mean-soon" thread below someone said you usually have 6 months from the medical exam and there's also an expiration date on the visa (of course). So in practice is it simply less than 6 months or are there any different guidelines? (since the person said "usually"). Thanks a ton!

Yep, 6 months from medical. So usually a few days less from interview- never more.
