Hello,

This forum helped me a lot getting all my documents together to apply for a green card after getting married with the love of my love. :D

Due to some financial issue we were not able to apply sooner.

1. My passport expires in March. If we send all the documents in February is still good or I have to get e new passport?

2. I did the Medical Exam in June. Do I have to redo it or I can use it if I apply in February?

3. I have my SSN on my old last name. Should I change it to my last name that I have it after marriage?

Thank you for looking at my questions and maybe help me get over this stressful process. :)

Have a nice day everyone!

Did you arrive in the USA on a K-1? Are you now doing the Adjustment of Status? If so, you will need to ask a mod to move this question to the Adjustment of Status section. This is CR-1/IR-1 for spouses who are living overseas and hoping to immigrate to live with their husband/wife. Different process. We are not familiar with your process so we cannot help.

OK it is fine for your passport to expire.. some people do not have the $$ to pay for the AOS right away. DO not leave the country. You were admitted on a Tourist or J1 they both allow you to fill out the i130 and i485 to adjust status.... so yes, it is fine for an expired passport and doesnt make a difference as long as you were admitted into the US on one of those visas. I wouldnt renew your passport as well because you need to show the stamp/visa when you go to the interview, which could be a year from now.
