Hey there-

My husband is Mexican and has permanent residency card (greencard) valid through 2025 in the US. We are employed with a missions agency and will be going back to Mexico for about 2 years to work in an orphanage.

My question(s) is this :

What do we have to file for ? The I-131 re entry or the N-470 Or both ???

-the N-470 is for him to maintain status and for those 2 years out of country to count towards his years for citizenship. So we will apply for that - I get that.

*But does he also have to file for the I-131 re entry visa? Is there any way we can skip filing by coming back to US every 6 months?

**Can anyone (who has filed for these) let me know a time frame as far as the I-131 re entry visa! (we want to leave by March/ April and want to file both of these(if necessary) before leaving**
