Our case (I130) was complete mid November. Now awaiting interview date at embassy. I am unable to find out any idea of timescale from NVC other than 'wait for interview date'. Can anyone say if this is likely to be this month? Am anxious to make plans for Christmas and time is running out. Any help appreciated.

No not had notice that it's at embassy but I telephone NVC weekly and have been told for the last three weeks that they are awaiting dates from London. They can't say though when this is likely to be. I want to go away over Christmas but if we get a Dec date this may be difficult.

I got my interview about a month after the notification, 15th Dec, in Ireland (where I live). This has precipitated a massive shitstorm because they'll keep my passport for 7-10 WORKING days which stretvches between 24 & 31 Dec & destroys my (paid for) holiday on the 30th since I won't have a passport. My advice: if you get an appointment in Dec, push it back to Jan, and enjoy your xmas.

You can tell them at the interview that you need your passport for an immediate trip. When you return, you schedule the courier to pick up your passport and deliver it to the embassy. Then they will finish your process and issue the visa.

Or you can use the contact form to ask for a later date.

Edit: Sorry I saw the UK and gave you a London answer. I don't know Dublin procedures.

A bit confusd by this so just to check I understand:

I say I need my passport for immediate trip. The US embassy in dublin then gives me my passport back then & there,

I fly to UK then Poland, then back to the UK,

I have my passport couriered from UK to US embassy in Ireland,

Then they will finish your process and issue the visa, i.e. courier it to the location of my choosing in Ireland.

?

MASSIVE news if true. Do you know if there is an official process for this? When I say this to them? Any forms, anything like that?

THANK YOU, again.

Ah this is exactly what I was worried about. I didn't realise that I could provide passport at a later date. That would be ideal. Thanks

See my edit. I thought it was a London interview. I don't know Ireland. I would imagine the interviewer could tell you how to send the passport later if you ask when he has finished and says you are approved. London uses the same courier that delivers passports to pick up additional documents (or passports) that need to go to the embassy after the interview. I don't know Dublin arrangements....courier pick up or just mail it back, but I would think that an arrangement is possible.

Just spoke to the embassy again, asked about this. Wonderful friendly woman I spoke to said:

- YES it is possible to do this, can't arrange in advance but speak to the officer once (if) you get approved and you can arrange to have your passport couriered to the office after your holiday

- ALSO, again after successful interview you can speak to the officer and ask to have the process expedited, which takes 2 to 3 working days instead of 7-10. This means I can get the passport back before I leave Ireland. This is the opposite of what the previous woman at the embassy said.

Fantastic news.

Dez93_2000 ...

Do you mean that you were notified of your interview date one month after processing completion , or were you given one month 's notice of your interview.
