Hello eveyone! I am little worry about petition I-129f. Me and my fiance met 7 mons ago and didn't file petition right after that, we were just lazy and my US fiance had some financial problems. I know that they give 2 years to file though. Now we are finally ready to file, but I thought of if officer at interview could ask why we didn't file earlier? I don't know what to answer, I think the truth that we were lazy? If anyone filed petition after long time since meeting, share experience please.

The two year requirement is just for meeting in person not for filing petition.

It doesn't really matter when you filed as long as you have met in person within the last two year.

The timing of filing won't be an issue.

No there is no issue. If anything not filing on your first meeting is a good thing.

7 months after meeting wont be any issue. go ahead and somehow they also wont care about this as long as the criteria of having met in 2 years prior to filing.

7 months is not a long time and you will be fine. Rather than say lazy, you could say "We both had other life priorities to take care of."

You won't have a problem.

We didn't file right after our first meeting either. This is a big step. It takes time to get to know each other and be sure this is for you. Another angle is it could look better if you don't file immediately after first meeting. We did not file until after our second meeting.
