Confusion about how K1 expiration date/when to get married

Hello!

I found out that I got my NOA2 on Oct 23rd but never got a letter. Today one finally arrived from the NVC (still no hard copy of the NOA2 though -- how important is this?). It was dated Nov 13th so I called to check on how everything was going.

The woman I talked to told me my visa application had been sent to our embassy in Caracas on Nov 12th and then told me I should contact the embassy immediately. She also said that we would only have 4 months to get married from the time the visa was approved by USCIS in October (putting our wedding in February?!?) and then later said we had 90 days to get married from the time the visa is issued at the interview.

Is she just super confused? I was under the impression that my fiancé would have about six months to enter the US once he gets the visa (depending on its expiration date), and then once he enters the US we have 90 days to actually get married. We were planning on a summer wedding so now I'm feeling very stressed and confused.

NOA2 letter is important when your husband adjusts his status

The visa should be valid 6 months from the date of the medical exam, not the interview/approval date

The 90 days to getting married starts when you fiancee enters the U.S.

Also remember that he is not work authorized with the K1 so if he wants to / needs to work consider that in your plans. The big wedding celebration can happen any time. A small courthouse marraige to satisfy the K1 requirement and be able to begin the adjustment of status and obtain work authorization may or may not make sense to you both.
