Hello everyone. My fiance a colombian citizen but resident of spain, was approved and received his k-1 visa last week. He already bought his ticket. Everything was smooth sailing until he recently found out that the colombian passport will be changed and deadline to change is November 23rd & 24th. His ticket is the 8th of December and the visa is posted on the "old" passport.

Will be have any trouble getting into the U.S? Please let us know. We are worried sick.

It's always something!

You better get to the Colombian embassy in Spain ASAP and get a new machine readable passport. You can't fly international with the old Colombian passports.

My wife had to get the new passport recently to be able to fly home for the Holidays.

Can he bring the new one along with the old one stuck with the visa or will he need to get a new visa? Also - for your wife's visa - does the "passport number" begin with RN or AM.... his starts with AM which we know is "el numero de la libreta" his actual passport number starts with RN.

So so complicated.

Thanks for your help!

He definitely needs to bring his old passport with the valid K1 visa when entering the United States, it's still good. My wife had two visas in her old passport and they both started with AM.
