Hi,

Basically all is in the title, I won a grand prize and they said I'd have to report it on my taxes, now I know I'm not supposed to work, but I haven't seen anything saying playing the lottery count as that.

Anybody can chime in and tell me if that's accurate?

Thanks!

I did my waiting! 9 months of it.. IN TSC!

yes major wins have to be reported on taxes.

You are allowed to play the lottery or similar games while on a K1, so no issue there. You'll have your SSN by tax time.

The company running the contest/sweepstakes/whatever will send you a 1099 form at the end of the year, and you'll use that when doing your taxes for 2015. Or at least, that's what it said in the affidavit I had to sign before they'd send me the $1000 I won two weeks ago :D

Eighteen years in the US and I still don't understand Velveeta, TV ads for prescription drugs, only getting 2 weeks paid vacation, or why anyone believes anything they see on Fox "News".
