We submitted the ROC documentation for my husband in August and the paperwork was sent to Vermont Service Center. Last time we applied for his conditional green card we received a letter two months after his biometrics stating our interview was waived and then 3 months later we received his green card. My husband had his biometrics appointment over 2 months ago and we haven't heard anything. Is this normal? When should we hear if he has an interview or if it will be waived again.

It can take a year or so for USCIS to adjudicate a RoC application. Often, someone will become eligible to file for naturalisation before their RoC has even been adjudicated. Filing for naturalisation under those circumstances forces USCIS to adjudicate the I-751; or you have a combined I-751/N-400 interview, where your I-751 is adjudicated and, if approved, you then have an N-400 interview right after by the same officer.

When I applied for ROC, my application was approved in about September2012 and in April 2013 I got approved. In September 2013 I applied for citizenship and in February 2014 I became a citizen. I didn't even get to have my new green card for a full year lol.

as long as you have the extension letter, You should be fine.

VSC is notoriously slow, unfortunately -- that being said, according to the processing times on the USCIS website it appears they have finally managed to get up to March!

So long as you have that all-important extension letter, all will be fine. Fingers crossed for a speedy approval!

Be prepared for the eternal waiting game. Be prepared for average news.
