Worried about how long I have known my fiance..

So I have been lurking around different forums and am wondering about something in my case.

I didn't think about it much before since I am extremely in love with my fiance but we really haven't known each other that long in comparison to the traditional standards of timelines people follow for marriage.

We met online exactly a year ago this day and then met in person this June where he stayed in the US with me for almost 2 months.

This is what I explained in my I-129f application. I didn't attach a separate sheet explaining how we met because it fit in the lines that were given to me on the form itself.

Now looking back I am worried that this might be a red flag?

We are also pretty young... I am 21 and he is 18.

I have been telling myself it should be okay since London is a low-fraud country and other then that my petition is well put together and had a lot of evidence.

What do you guys think? Am I just being paranoid, or do you think it's possible they may deny my I-129f petition based on this?

There's no minimum duration of relationship requirement - only that you've actually met two years prior to filing the I-129f.

It's no big deal, although you are quite young. I imagine you'll have a harder time with your parents than you will immigration. Good luck.

Haha thank you! I feel a bit better now. I know there is no actual written requirement but I was worried they may find it suspicious or something.

Thankfully my parents are very supportive in the process! When I told them I wanted to get married and have my fiancé move over hear my mom just told my dad "I told you so!" He fits in very well here

I've the same question comes up in my mind as well. I talked to my fiance even before we started the K1 process. And he positively told me that it was true that we haven't known each other for a very long time. But we spent 3-4 months seriously living together like actual couples did. We see each other everyday. We spend time watching favorite team on the TV every night. Compare to many other cases out there, even they dated online for years but they met their fiance in person only 1-2 times before getting married. Those can pass all the visa process then why not us?

It's not so right if someone trying to judge you from how long you have known your fiance. I think it's more important on how much you get through together. In my case it'll be only 10 months by the time I get to the interview. But I'm not going to worry about this because our relationship is so real. And we feel so right to each other then there is not reason to wait for. Once love happens it just happens.

The chief issue is not with USCIS, where the criterion is having met once in the last two years before filing, but at the consular stage, where the bona fide nature of the relationship is evaluated. "Face time" carries a lot of weight. Yours is pretty good. London is apparently not tough on this aspect.

The above statement is incorrect. Probably just a mistake in wording but the requirement is not that you actually met two years prior to filing. The requirement is that you've been together in person at some point in time WITHIN the two years prior to filing. The keyword is WITHIN. Not an issue in this case. I'm correcting the error for any reader who might be misled by your wording.

To the OP, I doubt this will be an issue. Honestly I've been with my OH a year this month too and we'll be filing in December. That will also be the 3rd time that I'll have been there and we'll have spent a total of 11 weeks out of that year together. That's more than some that get granted visas so I wouldn't worry about it. Some people can only get a few weeks off work a year and they also wait until they have been doing the LDR thing years before deciding they want to marry. Where as some people decide they would rather be married sooner rather than later. As long as you love each other, have a solid relationship and have seen each other within the 2 year requirement and meet the other requirements, there is no reason your petition wouldn't be accepted.

Not a concern with London really and longer than a lot of other filers. Also you spent 2 months together in person, I've seen K1's where the couple have only spent a week together.

One year since you first knew each other and 2 months spent together is GREAT. I have a friend who knew her fiancé' only 6 months, went to his country and spent one week, then filed for K1 and had no problem at all.

I would not worry. This is more than most of the people that get approved. Some see each other for 1 weeks and get married. Don't worry. You are fine. 2 months together is more than enough. Without other red flags.

Me and my husband were 19 and 20 and had known each other 15 months before filing, I spent 2 months also in the US the summer before we applied, we had no problems at all through the k1 or AOS process and got my green card without an interview so no need to worry!!
