I have a two year tourist visa to Nigeria stamped in my passport and its less than a year old. But I need to renew my passport and change it to my married name. Will it void my two year tourist visa?

Nope take both passports when you travel.

Nope take both passports when you travel.

Do you think they'll make a big deal about the passports being in two different names when I arrive in Lagos and go through airport customs? And do you think they'll use it to scare me into giving them money to let me in (i've seen them do that to other people over some other stuff)?

They didn't for me and others. Your picture is right there you have ID. How about calling the embassy and asking them what do they suggest for your peace of mind.

How can they scare you into giving them money. They can;t contain you or keep you. Say hell no. Hunny I wish I would have all the times I was asked. When I was asked and they got persistent even the police officer I said let me call the US embassy. They backed way up. No one can scare me out pf nothing. But that's me.

I'm with Dwheels! I didn't have any issues with my passport the first time I went to Lagos, but the officer checking passports looked at mine and before handing it back asked "do you have something for me"...I looked her dead in the eyes and said "No"...she paused handed me my passport and I was on my way. If you have everything you need and you know you are legit, don't be intimidated.
