Hey everyone I was wondering my medical exam is in another 2 weeks and was wondering what I should bring with me

From what I read I need my vaccinations but I haven't gotten any shots since highschool lol and also is there any forms I should bring with me? If so what would those be?

I'm not sure how this applies to the other physician doctors, but the one in Toronto that i'm going to doesn't do vaccinations at their office... you have to have everything done before you go for your medical. There is a list on their wesite that you are supposed to take to your family doctor, have them give you the ones you need (most likely if your parents had you vaccinated this could just be tetanus and flu shot) and then you take the completed records to the doctor on the day of the medical and he only checks off a list that he includes in your packet to the consulate.

obviously from your timeline I assume you won't be going to Toronto, so whatever physician you're going through, I would suggest looking at their website or e-mailing them about their specific policies and see if they specifically can tell you what they personally want you to do/bring. you can also search their name on the forum and usually this will come up with other members reviews to kind of give you and idea of what you can expect.

But in general for forms you will need: your appointment confirmation, the copy of your interview date confirmation with your name and case # on it, at least two passport style photos (look up how many photos that people suggest for your specific physician as this seems to vary greatly), your vaccine records and possibly medical records if you have an extensive medical history, and your passport. personally, I plan on taking everything I have that has to do with my immigration process thus far because i'm paranoid haha

additionally, they don't care how long it's been since you've had any shots... they just care that you have them before you try and enter their country lol

You should have instructions from embassy, consulate or doctor on what to take with you. There are different instructions and requirements depending on location. Some want 2 passport pics .others 5. Some have you go for X rays, some have you take specific blood tests.

In general doctors need vaccination record which normally needs Td/TdAP, MMR, Varicella and flu shot.

Td/TdAP is for tetanus, Varicella is for Chicken Pox (if already had then no need), MMR need to be confirmed by blood test, Flu Shot is required during the period of Nov-Mar.

and no doctor does it on the spot as it takes a week to process, only your family doctor can deal with it.

I had my medical almost 2 years ago so I can't remember exactly, but I know I didn't have to get any vaccines, I had them all done when I was young & in high school, I just went to the hospital and got a copy of my vaccinations. I think some of them needed to be done within a certain amount of years, but I had only been out of high school for 5 years so I was up to date. So you might not have to get any. Have you checked the website and compared your vaccines to see if you are up to date? That is what I would do and if you need any then you will know what you need.

Most folks will need a tetanus booster so no harm in getting that done ahead of time. Urgent Care should be able to do it.

If you haven't had vaccines done since you were young you may also want to get another MMR booster. I had my family doctor test my immunity to some of the vaccines that the doctor will look for - Chicken pox (whatever it is called - varicella I think), MMR, Hep A, B (not needed as an adult but I had read incorrectly). Because my MMR came back without full immunity I got that shot. When the immigration dr looked yesterday he highlighted the section on my blood report (which I brought) showing my varicella immunity and then noted the rest on the vaccination record.

My medical took all of ten minutes with the dr. the rest was waiting time and getting the chest xray and blood test.
