I understand my fiance has to 1) get police approval 2) get medical approval 3) go to interview

Is there anything else? What kind of documentation does she need to provide to the police and interview? Do I need to provide any documentation? I know the packet with instructions is on the way but I'm soo excited and I want to start getting ducks in line.

How much does the medical and police cost?

Thank you in advance, I don't think I can sleep tonight

As in Thailand

1. Tell your fiance to get the police clearance certificate as soon as possible because it takes up to 6 weeks now. All she need is

- Her Thai ID card [both copy and original]

- Her valid passport [both copy and original]

- Her name changed certificate [both copy and original, if she has one]

- A copy of her household registration

- If you're applying for K1 visa she need a copy of Letter of Certification [she has to get one from the district office that she has the name in. She can find out from her household registration]

- A copy of marriage certificate / divorce certificate [both copy and original, if she has one]

- A copy of NOA2 [it seems like you have to wait until you get the actual paper of this Notice of Action from USCIS by mail. Then you just scan this to her without signing the paper]

- A copy of your passport [make sure you sign it with blue ink]

* Make sure that every copy documents are signed with blue ink.

* Give her this link if she wants to read in Thai http://pcscenter.sb.police.go.th/#

2. In cause of K1 visa you have to wait until your case is forward to NVC which could take like a 20-40 days. Call NVC to get case number a couples week after your approval date. Then you can use this number to check your status.

3. Wait for Packet 3 document list from the US embassy in Bangkok. They will let you know what else do they need from you.

4. After she send that the package back to the embassy. They will schedule interview date. Then she has to take all the confirmation letter to have medical examination at the specific places. Check from this link http://photos.state.gov/libraries/thailand/591452/iv/med_instructions.pdf

5. Go for the interview.

Right now what you need to do beside getting the police clearance certificate is trying to work on your document. I think you need to fill out I-134 form also send your past 3 years tax transcript or W2+1040 form, also for the past 3 years to her. I have no idea if a scan one is acceptable. And trying to work on prove of relationship stuff like photos, text, plane tickets and hotel reservations...

Thank you so much for this information, so I'm guessing we have to wait for case forward to NVC before she gets police clearance?

Nope, wait for your NOA2 [Notice of Action , I-797 notice of action or whatever they called] then go. In my case I got this letter 6 days after the approval on the website.

The police clearance certificate for the regular one is 100 THB [$3-4] the wait time is 6 weeks. But if you're in rush there is another way to order it. The express one would arrive within 5 days. It cost 1500-2000 THB [$40-60]. I have no idea if the express one is really legal. But I got offered this option when I went there. I said no, cause it doesn't really matter to me as I need to wait for the case number from NVC which takes like 3-5 weeks anyway.

I just got my NOA form I-797C , can my fiance now go to get police clearance? Do I need to send this form to her and she take it to the police?

The process is a bit confusing for us

Yes, if it's the one that say " Notice type : Approval Notice " then this is NOA2. You don't have to send her the original one. Just scan and send it to her e-mail. Then have she print it out and go get the police clearance along with other documents.

You can have the police clearance as soon as you have NOA2 as I said it'd take time to get it. On the website itself explain that the police clearance will last for 1 year. So I don't think that is a problem if you get one now. For the medical examination you'd better wait until you get packet 4 (that they let you know your visa interview date first before going to make an appointment with the doctor.)

If you plan to get to the interview stage as soon as you get your case number or packet 3 then there's nothing to worry about the validation. But if you want to wait to bring your fiance back in the middle-the end of next year, then yeah you could wait to get those later.

Ty again for all your info. I am sending a copy of this I-797C for to her in the next few days and she will be going to bkk for clearance certificate.

She is going to bkk next week for the police clearance

I'm reading that it takes around a month to get the NVC packet and that will put us around November 10

What is the process after receiving the packet? I send the packet to her then she can see the doctor and make an interview appointment? Thanks again everyone for helping us out
