Hi! I've been reading so much that my brain hurts and the more I read the more confused I get. My husband is American and I'm Swedish. We got married in Texas 2010 and he moved to Sweden 2011. We are now trying to get me a visa so we can move back home.

7/26/2015 we sent the I-130 application to the USCIS in Chicago. 8/11/2015 we got a letter that they have received our paperwork and they have forwarded the paperwork to the California Service Center for processing. 9/22/2015 we got a letter from the Department of Homeland Security that our petition has been approved. "The NVC will contact the person for whom you are petitioning concerning further immigrant visa processing. Allow a minimum of 30 days for Department of State processing before contacting the NVC"

Do we count the 30 days from the notice date or starting when we received the letter in the mail? The notice date is September 11. Did I get it right that the embassy will call me to make the appointment?

Can someone plz tell me what the next steps are? What do I need to do before the interview, during the interview and after? What do I need to bring with me? My father-in-law will be the sponsor. Does the paperwork/fee need to be completed before the interview?

I'm pretty sure I will have more questions for ya later on but lets start with these :)

Thank you bunches!!

They send you I130 to the NVC IN 1 TO 2 weeks dont wait call the NVC to see if they have scanned in your petition. From day 1 you need to be aggressive and call the NVC to see if each step in the process is ready to move on. They will send you a welcome letter to explain the steps involved. Good luck

Thanks guys!! It's so frustrating that there are so many things that needs to be done and I'm the one reading everything because my husband is dyslexic. Where do I find the phone number to the NVC? Their website or is it the phone number that is on the letter stating that the I-130 petition is approved? :)

You need to calm down or you will mess up at NVC and prolong this. Everything you ask is in the NVC process wiki I attached You really need to read it that's why I attached it.

Do not go by any days the NVC tell you it could be more or less. after a couple weeks call them to get case and invoice number if is it not ready call again. After you get that you can log in on the CEAC website You might have to call the NVC some more times during the process

you should always call and stay on top of things now that your case is at the NVC. Unlike the USCIS there are things you can do to help speed up the process at the NVC

Thanks again for all the help. I know I'm making things harder than they are reality. My brain is having a meltdown from reading so much. I'll look at the wiki again when I'm not so stressed out :)

We thought it would take a minimum of 5 months to get the NOA2 but it went really fast. Hopefully the rest will go that fast too. That is if I don't have a melt down before that..... :P

Clear your head...breathe....calm down and sit down with paper and pen and read the wiki link. Read it twice if you need too. There are documents you need to be getting together. Make a list of what you need to get. Make a list of any questions you have about the wiki instructions. Do not send original documents to NVC.... only photo copies. The originals go to the interview. NVC stage. is also an opportunity to side load if you have more evidence. Also, is your husband in Sweden too? He must show US domicile. But you must calm down. Like dwheels said. If you make errors it will prolong your case. Best wishes.

I've read the wiki at least five times last night and just the amount of everything that we need to collect as soon as possible is just overwhelming. I read that he needs to show US domicile since he lives over here and what he needs to show them but I just don't know how we are going to do that. The only thing showing that he is from over there is that he has an American passport and birth certificate and that he renewed his drivers license two years ago and he knows his social security number by heart. He doesn't have any other connections other that his family and friends live there. He doesn't even have an American bank account.... He moved over here because we wanted to be together as soon as possible and it was a lot easier to get him over here. We figured we would do this process once our finances got better.... Breath breath :)
