I-129F Passport Photo Size (Issues in Brazil)

Hey everyone,

My fiancee and I are in Brazil right now (I'm visiting) and we're trying to take our passport photos for the I-129F. However, we're having a hard time finding a place that will do a 2" x 2" photo. Apparently, square passport photos are not standard or even offered in Brazil.

  • Would it be alright for us to use a photo that meets all of the other specifications, but is 35mm x 45mm (1.3" x 1.7") in size? Like this
  • Or would it be better for us to take the photos and have me attempt to print them in 2" x 2" on my photo printer when I get home to the states?

For reference, this seems to be the photo that every shop wants to offer us.

Thank you in advance for your help!

That site in the middle of the page clearly shows?:

Brazilian Visa Size and Requirements now conform to US Standards

Take a lot of close ups and but them out at home if you need. I would think specific size would matter as they'll use it on the new passport...etc.

It is also important to make sure the face is the correct size. Any drug store in the US can do it for you. The only problem is some insist on taking the picture too. I had to find a guy that would use a digital copy for my fiancée

That's because you have to convert inches to cm, remember that in Brazil we use cm (passport style photos are 51 x 51mm). So, the size she has to look for is 5x5 or 5x7 cm, just tell on stores she needs a U.S Visa photo they will pretty much know what to do. Hope it helps :)
