Can anyone please tell me how many months of stay does the US embassy offer you to stay in their country ? does it start from 3 months or 6 months? and after your Visa has been approved what do you do next?

Tourist visa are not intended for long extended periods of time (relatively) nor overly frequent uses.

The kind of visa you get varies. Just because you may get a 3 month, 6 month or even a 10 year visa, does not mean you can stay that length of time in the USA. The time you are allowed to stay in the USA is detrmined by the C.O. at point of entry. For example you may have a 10 year multiple entry tourist visa but the C.O. may only stamp your book for 1 week, giving you only 1 week to visit. That said, a C.O. can also deny you entry for any reason on a tourist visa, as a tourist visa (or any visa for that matter) does not gaurantee you admission into the USA.
