possible problem: received green card while traveling abroad while in possession of approved parole

My wife and I decided to apply for a 1 year travel permit, while she was still awaiting her adjustment of status (ie waiting for her green card)

We were approved January 21,2015 and received (2) copies of a I-512L, Authorization for Parole of an Alien into the United States.

So we left the USA, and have been traveling around Europe since March 15, 2015.

We will be re-entering the USA sometime after January this year (the I-512L gives her authorization for travel, as long as she returns by January 20, 2016)

Now for the problem (?)

We have our mail forwarding from the USA to us here (using a mail forwarding service)

So while traveling, she has received both Her notice of receiving a approval for her green card, as well as her actual new green card.

**I remember reading somewhere here in VisaJourney that you are not to leave the usa before receiving your green card, without permission, and if you do, you are not to return using the green card.

SO, what do we do when we present ourselves at the USA border (we will be flying into chicago)?

Do we present both her green card and the Parole Authorization documents?

I was under the impression that her adjustment for status was on hold until we returned to the USA from our traveling...

Thank you to anyone that has the time to help!

She will enter with GC, cbp system will have her info already. You can discard or keep I-512l. Nothing to worry here.

I have no direct experience, other than dealing with bureaucrats at POE over a career of traveling, but, I would not discard ANYTHING until safely back home.

I don't see a problem at all, simply use the Green Card, there is no need for anything else.

I think she should be able to use the green card, DO NOT discard the AP, that is the permission they are talking about, the AP is your permission to leave and re enter so when she gets to the boarder control she should present her green card and if any question is asked present the AP and that would be all.

When exiting the US she did not show her AP did she? She just showed the TSA agent her ID and boarding pass. The airline saw her passport to confirm she had the required documents to leave the US and enter the destination country--she had not interaction with CBP did she?. Upon returning she must show the airlines a valid visa, use the VWP, AP, or a GC. The GC is the Holy Grail for a non-USC to re-enter the US. It is better than the AP or a visa or the VWP as it allows you to re-enter the US as a LPR. So which would you use if given the choice between being paroled into the US with the AP or admitted into the US using the GC? The AP is worthless now that the GC has been issued and she has it with her. The only way her current AP would be of use is if she for some reason lost her GC before returning to the US, she could then use the AP to re-enter the US and travel on until the AP expires or her replacement GC arrives--not wishing her and bad luck here.

Yes we do , if you are taking a flight out of the us, airlines collect your passport info ( API) and so the big brother knows you are leaving

I was traveling on AP , got my green card approve when I was in Prague. Upon entering the us, I simply told the officer that I got my green card approved while overseas , officer sent me to secondary , waited there for half an hour and got passport stamped with ARC written on it . No worries, you are all good to go, I mean to come.
