GC expired but 1 yr extension letter. HELP!

We want to travel to Mexico for the weekend but I have an expired visa I also my 1 year extension letter. I also have my State ID. What all do I need to go and come back by land with no issues. I need some guidence. Thank you in advance!

I saw a thread on here recently about someone in a similar situation. That letter will get you back into the us it does not help you to get into other countries, like if you were using your gc to enter Canada or mexico. If your passport will get you into mexico visa free then you shouldn't have any issues.

The OP is presumably a Mexican citizen, so their passport would certainly allow them to enter Mexico.

You have a passport right, just not a us passport because you are not a citizen

No I don't have a passport at all. I just have my GC and a Texas ID... that's why I'm a little concerned if I can come back lol

As a US permanent resident, you can re-enter the US without a passport. You just need proof of permanent residency, which you have.

As to whether you need a passport to enter Mexico, that is another question.

Well I've gone to mexico and you just put a quarter and it let's you go. My GC is expired and I've only gone with my greencard. So I can come back with the expired GC and letter? That's it right?

LPRs do not require a passport to re-enter the US.
