Hey guys

I need an advice

So I'm filling ds160 before an interview and I'm confused

My dad left me when I was a kid

I know date of his birth and his name/surname

but the problem is that ds160 form asks me to provide an address

should I just put "Do not know" or "N\A" into that fields

Oh, what a day, what a lovely day!

I had the same issue with the details of my mother. I simply put NA for what I didn't know.

I have no direct experience with this, but would be inclined to put "unknown". N/A stands for not applicable, in this case the information requested is applicable (as far as you know), as opposed to being not applicable (if for example he was deceased).

I just looked back over my application. I actually did put unknown. Either way I don't really think they'll scrutinize it too much. Plenty of broken families who don't keep in touch with parents etc. I for one haven't spoken or seen my mother in 15 years so I have no idea about her address.

Per: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/forms/ds-160--online-nonimmigrant-visa-application/frequently-asked-questions.html

You may leave spaces blank when the questions are marked “optional.”

You may answer a question with “Does Not Apply,” when that question does not apply to you....
