After the interview

Hi all!

My fiancé finally had her embassy interview. She came out one hour later and said that they gave her back all the paperwork and passport and asked for additional paper work. They wanted the most uptodate what's app chat. Like up to the date of the interview and we were missing one week.

I find it very ridiculous , since we provided fifteen months of daily chats but were missing the last week.

How does this process work. I mail the chats along with her passport and wait? Is it a good sign that they didn't say no? Is it common? How long do you think they will delay us? Will she have a second interview ?

Will they just mail the visa to her address? Or mail denial letter ? ( I hope not )

Please, any feedback is appreciated.

Did you get a 221G? If yes, then you need to provide exactly what they asked for. Don't delay, do it quickly. They will most likely review it shortly after they receive the missing information and make a decision then. However, the fact they didn't keep her passport is a sign they don't think they will be approving a visa shortly.

I do not agree with this statement. It seems to me they ALWAYS give the passport back when a 221(g) is issued. Please let me know if anyone knows differently from personal experience, not from what someone else told you.

I would not send the passport with the required additional evidence unless the 221 specifically stated to do so,the CO will review the requested evidence and notify you of their decision by mail. As negative stated, in the past , return of the passport and documents was considered a "hard" denial, we personally know of cases where the CO retained the passport and the documents and the beneficiary returned same day or one or two days later with the required evidence and the visa was issued,a "soft" denial. Maybe evidence requirements have changed but it seems strange to us that a petition would be denied solely on 1 week of missing chat records.We submitted NO chat records, No phone records,No messaging records with our successful petition.

Yes it's very strange to me as well. My fiancé interviewed with that infamous short haired women. It seems that she likes to place couples in administrative processing to take time deciding their fate. Very stressful situation.

iandunross....as we stated, seems things have changed at BKK....only supporting evidence we submitted was proof of my several trips to thailand supported by many photo`s of us and her family. Looking at your timeline, congrats., you shattered our speed records, hopefully this is only a bump in the road and you will be approved soon. Is a shame there is again a CO who is a problem, we have heard of others like this thru the years, including a young man who (CO) with a thai girlfriend who was notoriously tough. As far as we are concerned, as stated, a denial (221)based solely on phone records , i just can't comprehend this. best of luck....real fun starts with AOS....lol....stevie n songsang

I m arriving at Bangkok October 14. By this time my case would be in administrative processing for 30 business days. Do you guys think it's a good idea to go directly to the embassy and try to speak with CO? Try to see what's going on? Would that help? Or should I try to make an appointment with the embassy before that? I just don't understand the situation and why it's taking so long ?

Today is business day 12 since they signed for received documents. My CEAC got updated once 3 days ago, but it still says " administrative processing "

Let me know what you guys think about visiting the embassy.

Waste of a trip. They won't let you talk to anyone. Use email, seems to be the only way to talk to anyone, even though it takes forever for them to respond.

I wrote an email to the embassy. They gave me a generic response saying that it takes time.

It's been 15 business days already. Still no news. What are my options now?

Do I write a letter to the congressman ? Does it work? What do I say?

Should I just keep waiting ?

Should I write an email asking for a second interview this time with me and my fiancé since I will be in Thailand in 2 weeks?

Or should i just keep emailing them every week asking for updates ?

Anybody been in this situation please help out.

Update: CEAC updated to " ready" 18 business days after they received the required paperwork from 221g denial.
