To create a system that tracks illegal immigrants in the United States, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie wants to look to the way FedEx tracks packages.

Speaking in the early-voting state of New Hampshire, the GOP presidential candidate on Saturday said the United States needs a way to stop losing track of people who enter the country illegally.

"At any moment, FedEx can tell you where that package is. It’s on the truck. It’s at the station. It’s on the airplane," he said, according to NJ.com.

"So here's what I'm going to do as president: I'm going to ask Fred Smith, the founder of Federal Express, to come work for the government for three months at Immigration and Custom Enforcement and show these people,” Christie added.

“We need to have a system that tracks you from the moment you come in, and then when your time is up ... however long your visa is, then we go get you. We tap you on the shoulder and say, 'Thanks for coming. Time to go.' "

The report noted that Christie’s campaign spokeswoman, Samantha Smith, is Fred Smith’s daughter.

Christie said the U.S. has become a “nation of lawlessness” under President Obama.

The New Jersey governor also took an indirect shot at Donald Trump, who has called for building a wall along the southern U.S. border and making Mexico pay for it.

"Please do not think we're going to build a wall across the entire 2,000-mile border," said Christie, who added that he has met with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and did not expect him to pay the estimated $100 billion cost.

Christie added that the recent talk in the GOP presidential primary about repealing the 14th amendment makes Republicans "sound like we’re anti-immigrant.”

“And we're not,” he said. “We want people to do it legally."

Leave it to politicians to come up with the most wacko ideas to get on the evening news.

A healthy and civilized debate on practical solutions is however welcome, once elections are over.

Require verifiable valid proof of lawful immigration status for ALL requests for government assistance at state and federal levels, require employer to submit verifiable documents to prove their employees are in legal status, require proof of legal status for filing taxes, voting, getting a drivers license, opening bank accounts, college applications, and any other process that calls for identification. Require proof of legal status before paying out moneygrams domestically or submitting remittances abroad. It is hard to stay somewhere you can't receive funds or work. Require prison time for CEOs/owners of companies that use illegal immigrants or fail to keep valid immigration documents on their employees. Refuse to accept any person for employment that submits multiple SSNs until one comes back valid and report them to ICE.

I'm pretty sure all those ideas (and they are good ones) are in place, and have been for quite some time now. And obviously, it's not working.

Well, except for the voter ID one. That should definitely be made a law in the US. But as with the other ideas, I am sure people will find ways around that, too.

although most of these things are in place at the Federal Level,

cities across the USA have decided to ignore any enforcement or inclusion,

and have created 'Sanctuary Cities' where the illegals move to and 'have a life'.

It's sad, really.

Now there's talk that all Sanctuary Cities will lose all Federal Funding on the next round o budget. I'm happy for that, slap em often !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
