Hi all, we received RFE on our I485 asking for joint sponsor. The only available person is out of state we domicile. Can we use him. Thank you.

Yes, anyone residing in the US is eligible to co-sponsor.

Yes, anyone within the US related or not can be a joint sponsor.

21 Aug 2013: I-129F Sent

11 Feb 2014: Visa APPROVED!

20 May 2014: Wedding!

A Joint Sponsor must be over age 18 and be either a US citizen or LPR.

An illegal alien residing in the US would not be an acceptable Joint Sponsor. There are also many people on different status who resides in the US.

Please be careful when giving advice.
