Hi, i'm in USA with green card for almost 1 year and 5 months , i still have no job yet, the potential jobs that i get are close to my career but are always far away from my locations or are driving positions, the positions that are not close to my career i don't get them , i feel tired from being sitting at the house long time, and i wondering i may be the only person who entered to USA with green card all this period and still did not start any job yet , i have a few questions i appreciate your comments / help , since when you are in USA? do you have a job/ in your career or just a job? Thanks

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

usa is a big place, job chasing techniques can vary based on where you are and the type of job you seek.

rather than me give out answers to your poll, i'd prefer to give out advice on how to successfully land that first job in your field. With that in mind, if'n you'd like some advice about job stuff, please give over yer city, state, and field o expertise.

ok - the biggest employer there for social work is the county. But you're going to have to drive a car daily. Let me dig a bit, I'll reply back tomorrow morning... I will say this - most entities seek folk with a masters in social work, not just a bachelors degree in it.

Have you applied for work at the university of california at San Marcos?

and finally - what dream job do you want to do within the next 45 days that is within your realm of expertise ?

I suggest that with your degree in social work, you could first start out by volunteering in a non-profit that's related to what you've done in social work (education? poverty prevention? safety nets?). Volunteering in the non-profit will help you to build a profile or in other words, help you to "sell / promote yourself". Your social work degree will come in great! Hiring opportunities from that non-profit or other closely related non-profits will then come up. Good Luck! Success!

Lower your expectations and look outside your field and you'll find a job.
