Please what does it mean for a case to be returned to the NVC from the US Embassy? I saw this the last time i checked my CR1 Visa status at the ceac website. I want a clear explanation on this please. Thank you.

Hi, generousjido, I think it's harder for people to speculate what might have happened with your case, not knowing the steps it's been through so far.

I understand. I can brief it but still kinda long typing with my phone. Mostly, when a case is being transfered to NVC. What are the possible things that happened? I already did my interview but was given the 221g paper and they called after a while to provide some documents with my passport which i did. So its unclear seeing the case transfered back to NVC after providing the necessary documents they asked for.

Usually, when a case is sent back to NVC/USCIS, it's because the embassy believe there is evidence missing. I read on USCIS' website and it says that a 221g is a "temporary refusal of immigrant visa". So either they don't believe you're in a bona fida marriage or there's some documents missing. What color is your 221g and does it say anything on it?

How long were you at USCIS in the first place, did you get any RFEs there? What about NVC, any checklists there? Do you have any red flags in your relationships so the CO at the embassy have questions whether you're in a bona fida marriage or not? How many times have you met before you got married? There can be lots of reasons why you were not given a GC at the time of interview and why your case has been sent back. Usually, looking back at your visa journey and the evidence provided will give you an explanation to the 221g.

Sending it back usually means they intent to deny it.

What documents did they ask for after interview?

How long after you sent them the documents did you get this status?

Are you sure you sent all they asked for?
