I-485 Denver Interview Pending for 6+ months

Hello,

My wife and I presented all paperwork on Nov 17, 2014. On Jan 2, 2015 biometrics. Online Status since Jan 15, 2015 is that Interview is ready to be scheduled. Still today have not received anything (Jul 27, 2015).

This means that the paperwork was approved, but somehow they are delayed on the interview process, although I read in this site's forums that the process is quite fast.

Since May 17, 2015, the Processing Times web page of USCIS it says that they are still on Aug 25, 2014 cases. How can the processing times status update be so outdated?

I have plans to leave the country for 1 month in December to go visit my family, and I based my decision to buy the tickets on what the lawyer said: 4 to 6 months tops...

I am a little frustrated that one pays a lot of money to get the process done and they don't use those resources to speed up processing times in the offices that need it the most. A friend of mine from Iowa got his I-485 for Adjustment of Status done in 3 months total, since the time he presented the paperwork, till he got the card. I should have done it in Iowa when I was there studying.

I guess my question is if anyone knows more about the status of processing time than May 31, 2015 or can share their experience with an I-485 in Denver? I requested an update to USCIS on Jul 17, 2015, and they said we will receive something in the next 30 days. Hope that is the case and I get the interview scheduled shortly.

Contact Michael Bennet's and Cory Gardner's offices and find out who your representative is and get in touch with them. You are way out of processing time and need someone to push the process along on your behalf. It might be that your file has just fallen thru the cracks, but you need someone with some pull and your Senators might be able to help. Our AOS was back in 2011 and it took only 89 days from start to GC in hand. It would appear things have changed.

My local office is also Denver and I called, they told me not too February for my case because I'm an April filer... It really sucks because my husband is deployed and I wanted to visit my parents since my husband is out of his mind with me being here alone... 3 more months til he's home so I just gave up on checking until it's beyond the normal processing time

You are not out of processing time - the USCIS processing time page clearly states they review August 25, 2014 cases, although usually the local offices are ahead by a month or two from the dates on the website. If you look at the processing times on VJ website, you will see that there is already one approval of September-filed case. According to the VJ timeline and my conversation with local attorneys, the AOS process with the local Denver office takes no less than 8 months. So you have two more months to go.

The timeline from 2011 pointed at by Dave & Rosa is irrelevant - many things changed since then. You can certainly try to contact your congressmen and senators, but my feeling is you will get the same response: please wait - you are still within processing time. The point is do not put much hopes into assistance from representatives, be patient.

Thank you for the information. It was the first piece of information that makes sense. I don't believe in Representatives, they have their own agendas. The interview notice should be arriving soon.

You are clearly misreading the quote. The quote speaks about "internal" processing goals of the local office, not processing time guidelines used for the petitioners:

In other words, the Denver office is clearly behind in processing I-485 applications timeline goal set by the Denver's office, yet Denver office's normal processing time for I-485 is August 2014, as stated on the website.

You also missed more important information on the same page you referred to:

"We generally process cases in the order that we receive them. On this page you can find an estimate of how much time the office handling your case currently takes to process your type of application, petition, or request.. . .Once you have [filing date], use the appropriate drop-down menu and corresponding Processing Dates button to display a chart of local processing timeframes."

So how will you explain that the case filed in November 2014 is "behind the normal processing time," if the last case reviewed by the local office is the case filed in August?

Even assuming you are correct that allegedly there is some type of "normal processing time" that applies to all local offices and specific types of applications, please explain where to find "normal processing time" you are referring to and USCIS explanation how to apply this "normal processing time" to specific local office.

I have just got off the phone with USCIS and have been told that the normal processing time for Denver office is now September 7, 2015 (like I learned something new) - you might wait another 6,5 months before you can complain you are out of Denver office's timeframe." Denver was always one of the worst offices. This delay just pisses me off!

Good news guys, as of September 23rd, 2015 I have been scheduled for my interview in the Denver office for October 27, 2015. I originally presented my paperwork November 17, 2014 and was ready for the interview to be scheduled by january 15, 2015.

What I don't understand is that they are asking a lot of paperwork that I have already submitted with my original presentation. Is this normal? Do they need more copies? Or is it standard letters that they send out that contain everything that they might need if not presented yet?

Congrats, glad to hear that! My NOA1 date is December 9, so 3 weeks after yours, so hopefully I'll hear something in the middle of October then. Was there any issue with your medical exam? Since it's been over a year sine the medical, I've been afraid they'll make me take a new one. Not that I wouldn't pass it, but they can be quite expensive.

Congrats! So they are on 11 months track now. Did you try to contact any of representatives to get the case expedited? and sorry I do not have the answer to your question regarding the office's requirement of a lot of paperwork.

No, I didn't contact any representatives as someone well said that there is nothing they can even do about it. It was only a waiting game, a very stressful waiting game. It might have helped that I contact USCIS and asked them to get me an update. 30 days after my call I received a letter that didn't give me more information but I guess pressure the office to hurry up.

Regarding the information they are requesting, my lawyers did not want to help me unless they charge me another arm and leg. So I call USCIS and they told me I need the copies so they can keep them and give me whatever original they have. I'm just going to bring copies as I cannot get everything certified before the 27th.

The letter said that you need to bring your medical exam unless already presented. My though is that they only need it one time, when you present your paperwork, to prove you are healthy.

Another good news Denver local office filers: according to VJ timeline another couple received the interview date for November. Their filing date is December 19th.
