So I came across topic someone asking if they could join the Air force with CPR (Conditional permanent resident) but most of the answer's were no to Air Force because they required 10 year Green Card. (LPR)

https://mobile.goang.com/Faq

Under requirements and commitments.

Would I be able to join the Air National Guard with Conditional Green Card? anybody have any experience with this branch?

(Also I have not gotten my conditional Green card yet, My interview is in Mid July :D )

Do you have to be a U.S. Citizen to join the Air Guard?

To join the Air Guard, you must be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident with a green card that does not expire within two years from the date you join. Due to the unique nature of some of our missions, some units may require you to be a U.S. citizen in order to join.

Edit: Question 2.

I am mostly looking into reserves and Guards for military service, since I have to finish my school. If I do end up joining the other branch, rather it be army national guard, or navy reserves, does Conditional Permanent Resident qualify for

expedited Citizenship through Military even though I am not LPR?

So after many research and many more research I have found out you can enlist in any branch except the Air Force. My eye is set on National Guard, and Marine corp reserves.

My biggest question is, since I have not came across straight answer to this question.

Can you still qualify for expedited military citizenship even as a conditional permanent resident. I got married in march and will have AOS interview this late July. When I get my Conditional Green Card, Can I go to the recruiter and take asvab test and everything, and eventually join, go through RSP, BCT.

As a conditional green card holder, Wil I get my citizenship through this ? after boot camp? Anyone around my situation have any experience?

99.9% sure you have to have your 10 year card, but you can become a citizen after basic training/boot camp. You have to let the recruiter know your intentions and get all the paperwork filled out before bootcamp through your recruiter.

Army just announced today that they are getting rid of 70,000 people, so I'm not sure how that will affect your intentions.,..

I've messaged a recruiter friend of mine, if he gets back to me I'll let you know.

You'd pretty much have to become a citizen asap. I figure there's zero chance of the US military letting someone who isn't a USC out into the world, with a gun. You may get a job that is not combat related in any way, shape, or form, without it tho.. I'm not sure on that.

Reading the wording, it says: green card that does not expire within two years from the date you join.

That means you cannot join with a conditional card.

The day after you enter the USA you have less than 2 years left on a conditional green card.

It's only the Air Force that currently do (es?) not accept 2 year green cards. The Army recently annouced they are cutting 40,000 people I believe. Good thing about the Armed Forces is that all offere expedited citizenship upon graduation of basic. You need to talk with the recruiter about that option as there is paperwork involved.

http://www.uscis.gov...vice-fact-sheet

Naturalization at Basic Training

USCIS established the Naturalization at Basic Training Initiative in August 2009 with the Army to give noncitizen enlistees the opportunity to naturalize when they graduate from basic training. Under this initiative, USCIS conducts all naturalization processing including the capture of biometrics, the naturalization interview and administration of the Oath of Allegiance on the military installation. Since 2009 USCIS has expanded the initiative to the Navy, Air Force, and finally to the Marine Corps in 2013, giving enlistees of these branches equal opportunity to (in most cases) leave basic training as U.S. citizens
