Accidentally Put Wrong Consulate On I-129f for K-1 Visa

Hey All!

My fiancée and I (She's the USC. I'm the Canuck. ) received notice of our NOA2 Monday evening.

On the original I-129f for my K-1 visa, I put down Toronto as the consulate when it asked where I would be applying for the visa. I found out after the fact that the Toronto consulate does not in fact process that particular visa, but Montréal does.

How do I go about notifying USCIS of this and/or make sure everything gets processed through Montréal and doesn't have a hiccup assuming they attempt to have it put through Toronto?

ANY help and advice would be appreciated as it is obviously reasonably urgent.

We did the same thing, we put Toronto unknowingly as our consulate on our I130. However, NVC, where your petition will go after USCIS, is the one that assigns consulates. There is nothing really you can do now. NVC should automatically assign MTL at your consulate but you can certainly call them to verify when the time comes. This is a common mistake, if you use the 'search' function you'll see lots of us made this mistake, NVC is used to dealing with it.

NVC will assign the right IV Unit for you, no worries there. In fact, you not have to do anything.

To learn which IV Unit got assigned,

call up NVC when they have the casefile, give over the USCIS receipt #, they will give you the Consulate Casefile #.

The first 3 letters designate where you are going.

Thanks! Appreciated. Very much. I tried to search to see if there were others, but I wasn't finding relevant mistakes for that problem.

It's nice to know I don't have to worry about that and if anything, it's a simple call to correct later.
