Hi,

Just curious as to whether anyone has ever received an actual phone call from USCIS? I had a missed call from someone on Saturday, no message left. This morning I had another missed call from the same number with a voicemail: This is Officer such and such...he is working on my case..and will try to call again. He spoke with a very thick foreign accent (not american) and said something like he wanted to ask me if we had an RFE with them. Weird. The call was from CA where we sent our rfe a month ago. I haven't left my phone alone haha. I tried calling the number back obviously, but each time it didn't dial, just had silence, then after a minute or so it disconnected...so I am assuming they don't allow calls to them. Of course. I have never heard of them calling us??!! One part of me is excited, because after 14 months of waiting it feels good to know something is being done, but my logical side is scared of what the hell they want now?? Our rfe was full of ridiculous requests, and repetitive things that we had already sent, plus them saying my medical was out of date etc...and I did not get another medical due to K1 not needing to according to their policy, despite it now being out of date due to their slowness. So, that is the only thing I can think of. But why not just send a letter like they usually do... Can you tell I am going slightly crazy here haha.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that USCIS will ever call you. They will send you physical mail/letters and email notices (if you have registered with USCIS). I would be very careful about this as there are some current scams that are like this.

Call USCIS at their main number 1 (800) 375-5283. Or call your local office and request an infopass appointment.

Here is a link to their full contact page: http://www.uscis.gov/about-us/contact-us

Good luck!

i would suggest a long conversation with an ISO,

asking an ISO

to read the notes in the casefile,

and telling the ISO that the adjudicator was attempting to contact you, twice now,

and you want the ISO to tell you exactly what the adjudicator wants.

although it's rare for them to call, they do call, when something is strange after an RFE submittal (like yours).

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Thank you both Paul&Jessica and Darnell... I have contacted Uscis and they transferred me to tier 2 which of course means I have to wait for them to call back. The first officer couldnt give any info other than saying there are scams. So, hopefully the tier 2 will call back before the other guy haha.

Thanks again, will update when I find out more :)

ya, you need a tier 2 to look at the internal notes on the casefile.

i would also ask if the adjudicator assigned to the case is still working or is off on vacation,

and ask when the adjudication might be finished.

USCIS can and do call you sometimes; it doesn't happen often, but it does happen.

Hi Kat!

I am a sydney girl too :) It turns out they were trying to call (not a scam haha) but never called back the 3rd time :( Of course I was glued to my phone for 3 entire days, didn't even go out for fear of being in the subway etc.

Ok, so to update if anyone is interested: yes they were trying to call...and didn't call back the third time like they said (of course!) We had recently had an rfe and it must have been about that, to do with the medical. We received a letter a few days later for another rfe, for same medical. (I had disputed it, to no avail)

Thanks everyone!!

Thanks for the update, and good luck with it.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
