Hello guys, needs your input on this one.

My wife receives public benefits which includes food stamps, welfare etc. Will the fact that she receives this benefits affect my green card application?

I intend getting a Co Sponsor for my green card application since she doesn't work.

Is this ok?

You will definitely need to have a co-sponsor. If you have a co-sponsor that meets the guidelines, you should be fine.

Embassy's have been known to reject cosponsors if they are not convinced that you are unlikely to be a public charge.

I am in the US already but I just want to adjust my status.

It still holds but is rarer. It someone ends up on means tested benefits they have to sue the sponsor(s) and they really don't want to . IF they strongly feel that you will end up on those benefits they will deny. On the plus side if they think your working will create household income to cut off your wife's benefits they will be more apt to approve.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
