Hi all, my state ID came in the mail this afternoon. It is valid till 6/20 when my I94 expires. I plan on going to get my driver's license this week but I'm not sure what the validity is since the id is valid until next couple weeks.

For those of us who has applied for AOS and are yet to receive GC/EAP/AP, how long did it take for your DL to expire? Thanks

It will be expired as same as your ID. Once you get your EAD, come back to Texas DPS, its validation will be extended to match EAD expiration (1 year)

Once you get your 2 year green card, your DL expiration will expire in 2 years.

Conclusion: your ID/DL expiration will be same as your immigration status. Once you get your citizenship, then this hassle will end.

Hi!

In California I got a permit that was valid as long as my I-94.

They let me do the written test but not the drive test: They said they couldn't even make the DL card that quick before my I-94 would expire.

I had to wait for my EAD to get a DL card. That has been valid as long as my EAD.

I renewed my DL as soon as I got my 2 year conditional GC. This DL is now valid until my birthday in 2018.

DL will expire same day as your State ID.

Since you are in Texas you can drive on your home country DL, Just make sure you have insurance.

From what I have seen over the years and with all the illegals in Texas, You are good as long as your have insurance, Police don't care if you don't have a DL if you are not an American Citizen, they are concerned with the car being insured......

I'm not sure I will take the risk. I better wait until I can get the driver's license. Thanks anyway
