Hi everyone!

My medical exam is booked next week with Dr. Cheema in Surrey. WOO! Because I am in the age bracket 27-49, his website indicated that I only need proof of vaccination for the following:

27-49 YEARS

-Tdap (Adacel or Boosterix) - ensure you get Tdap not just Td

-MMR Measles, Mumps, Rubella. ("MR" and "MM" are not enough. You need MMR)

-Varicella - If you had "Chicken Pox" disease, no vaccine is needed

-Influenza (only required during October - February, annually)

Question 1)

I had chickenpox as a child. Will I need to have a blood test before my medical exam as proof? Or will a blood test be done during the medical exam to do this.

Question 2)

The pdf package here: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/interview/prepare/medical-examination.htmlgave a HUGE list of vaccines that are required in order to verify immigrant visa status. Many of which are only required as vaccines for infants/toddlers (e.g. Hib, Pneumococcal). I don't have proof of these vaccines...do I need to get them?

Thank you lovely people =)

Hello Trason,

1.) No. No bloodwork require to prove that you already had chicken pox during your childhood years. They would accept verbal attestation that you had it before.

2.) No. You do not need all those listed. Only the following as you listed them:

Dr. Cheema, does it altogether on the same day of your medicals. You only have to wait 30 mins at his clinic, before you can proceed with the bloodworks. They needed 30 mins for all the vaccinations to settle in. I did all the three in one day :). I told them I had the chicken pox when I was small, and they accepted it even verbal :)

Goodluck on your journey :) Wish you get the visa soon..

I had to have my MMR again due to the fact I was born in 70's they are recommending ppl have it re-done. I did not have to bring proof of chicken pox or have a titer drawn. oh sorry I had tDap given as well. Don't over think it like I did, my appointment for medical was in Toronto and was about 10 minutes tops....

You are welcome.

Do not forget to keep the copy of the full vaccination report that will be handed to you from Dr. Cheema's office.

You will need this once you are ready to Adjust your status from K1 to GC.

Wish you all the best..

OP is not adjusting their status and arriving on a CR1. :)
