Hi,

Do I really have to wait a whole year until I get my Visa?

We sent the petition in January 2015...still no NOA2

unfortunately yes. even if everything goes smooth super fast, it still takes about 10 months to 12 months to get visa in hand. good luck

The best thing that will help you through this process is a boat load of patience!! This is not easy on the couples, but understanding each step and being prepared with paperwork and such will help.....

08-03-2017 Daughter and I completed biometrics; May 2018 - I had to redo my biometrics (reason unknown)

07-13-2018 I-551 extension stamp (12 mths) obtained at USCIS office in Detroit

09-20-2018 Transferred to TSC

10-15-2018 Text notification "New Card Being Produced"   YAY!!

It took 8 months they approve my I-130. My service center was Vermont and they transferred my cases to California Service Center after long time passed. Normally it takes 5 months but if i were you i would call and open the inquiry regarding your case status.

I know waiting is killing you but there are not much things to do other than waiting or keep asking them what happened. You are not done yet after your case approve. I am still dealing with the NVC stage. I wish you good luck with that.

okay...so we should be prepared that I won't have my Visa in hands until January 2016...Maybe 1 month less or longer...right?

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Yes, that's correct. My lawyer said Vermont service center is known as huge backlogs. Processing time for Petition for Alien Relative is 5 months. Wait until 5 months period complete and open the inquiry from web or phone call. You need to bother them but this is all about your luck!. I am having hard time with NVC stage and i don't know how long it's going to take....

It took us 7 months and 3 days to receive NOA2 from VSC. Our whole process from PD to Interview: April 10, 2014 - May 18, 2015.

This is not an easy process and typically a long and arduous one. Have patience and start reading over the NVC process and gathering the paperwork necessary for sending in your AOS and IV documents as this take a lot of time, particularly when filling in the DS-260 online. Have all of your I-864 paperwork, tax transcripts/information in order. The I-864 in particular can be very tricky so please read the instructions carefully. In other words, be prepared and keep busy with all of the necessary paperwork to get you through without a checklist. I can't stress to you enough how important these steps are. Waiting on USCIS is a breeze compared to going through NVC in my opinion. Best of luck to you!

I also got my NO1 date on JAN 12th 2015 from Vermont and my priority date is 24th Dec 2014, still now no approval from them seems like they just forget to approve our petitions.... lol

Well, at least we now know how long we have to wait...sucks though...

oh and btw...any experiences with expedite request?

We called the USCIS like a month ago and they put it an expedite request. On the USCIS page it says case complete. Did they approve our request or not?

And if they approved it, how does that affect the processing time?

well idk about that because as far as I know people from the Philippines get their VISA within just a couple of months due to typhoons etc etc..
