Asking consulate to delay placing k1 visa in passport so I can still visit fiance

I feel like I'm going mental with all this stress of this process. Anyway, I'm aware that some Canadians have been able to visit thier fiance and not activate thier visa. However I also saw that there might be an option of having the approved visa not placed in my passport until around the time I am planning to move there. Basically I want to know what I can do to still be able to visit my fiance between May and October. Anyone have any suggestions than the obvious of me just sucking it up and not seeing him for 5 months?

Call the embassy and ask if that is possible.

No one is going to be able to tell you for sure because it'll be up to the co.

But if your interview is next month you'll have the visa not long after.

Can you not move earlier?

My petition is expired as of May 8, 2015 and not sure they would extend it if the interview is pushed back by a few months? Plus my medical is tomorrow, would my medical still be ok if the interview was pushed back as well? I'm just not sure what to do.

If you have an interview date and need to move it, normally the consulate extends the NOA2 automatically, but email and ask. Also the medical is valid for 6 months. Just realize that the validity of the eventual visa will expire when the medical does. So if you push the interview back you are also shortening the time you can use the visa.

Do you have work committments holding you up? Once the K-1 visa goes into your passport I was under the impression it cancels out any previous visas or visitation rights. Canada sounds different though. Most of us cannot wait to get that Visa and leave ASAP.

We Canadians don't have to go and get a Visitors Visa to visit the USA.....We simply head to the USA, and at the border the USA Immigration dude makes the decision to let u in (or not) right on the spot. So some K1'ers in the past simply head on down to the USA and the Immigration official "ignores" the K1 visa...but that is up to each individual Immigration official!

Preferable way would be just to keep moving the interview date.......

If you are doing your medical tomorrow and you aren't planning to move until October you need to watch your dates because your POE needs to happen before your medical expires in 6 months. Maybe I misunderstood your plans. But keep the dates in mind either way! It seems like you would do well to reschedule your medical AND your interview if you still can.
