The form 864EZ, part 5 number 17, asks if I am employed or retired. I am a military retiree but currently employed and so receive income from both categories. Can I check both boxes? I ask because each income considered individually is just barely over the minimum income requirement but combined is more than enough to qualify. Thanks for any feedback.

Are you submitting at least one years tax transcript? This would indicate total income and tax status.

I would enter the two incomes by checking both boxes. If they need something more they will let you know but the transcript will reveal what they are looking for.

I'm a vet too. They're only concerned wirh your total net income available for maintaining your family.

No. They don't care too much about only your tax transcript in this situation since that doesn't show your retirement. But be sure to include a VA verification letter showing elegibility and monthly amount. You can print it from the VA ebenefits site.

As long as you exceed 125% poverty with combined income minus liabilities you shouldn't have a problem but I think you need the long form not the EZ.
