Hi all

I'm brand new to this forum. I am glad found this. Please bear with me as I familiarise myself with this forum.

My husband and I we got married in Peru. he went back to USA. On december we sent i30 form and we received our NOA1 on december 8th 2014, but it's been almost 4 months and we're still waiting to be accepted. the waiting is driving me crazy.

We have a baby, she was born in peru but she has 2 citizenships, peruvian and american. there is no problems with her going to USA but getting my visa is taking so long, my baby really needs her dad, I wonder if there is some other way to make the waiting shorter. Some people told me that it could probably take a year the whole process . So this is tough.

Any Advice will be helpful . I am sure there are so many couples that went through this already, so help me out :)

Thank you so much :)

2014 December Filers I-130

I know how you may feel. It also took me a while to get my wife and daughter here. It is a long wait and the best thing you can do is to hope for the best in terms of how long you will get an approval on the I-130. After Nebraska approves it, it goes to NVC for another wait that can be from 2 to 4 months more or less and then to the US embassy. Just be patient :-) Join the December filers group above, believe me it will help to know how others are doing and if you have questions you can ask away in that thread or asked in the Peruvian Portal.

I don't think there is anything you can do to speed up the process, but you could certainly try to have your husband contact his Senator in his state if you have passed the 5 months plus wait at Nebraska NSC:

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do

Some people have tried it and were successful to have their Senators inquiry your case on your behalf, but they will not do anything until you have passed the normal processing time or if you have special circumstances.. You can do it too, but the system will not allow you to do it until it has passed 6 months plus: https://egov.uscis.gov/e-Request/Intro.do

I pulled this from VJ timelines from people getting their approval from Nebraska in the past year so you can get yourself an idea of the wait. I saw some people getting approved in a month, but don't get discourage that is not your case because the majority of those approvals are people from the Philippines and they usually get expedited.

I am sorry if I can not give you a good answer how to speed up the process at USCIS. Hopefully you will not have to wait that long :-) Maybe your husband can visit you more often and that wait the actual wait of being apart is not that bad. I flew to Lima to see my wife and daughter every 3 months or so even for just quick weekend trips of a few days to see them. I went to their interview at the US embassy in Lima so that they weren't nervous about the whole thing, and also I went to bring them here to the States as well.

I really hope you get your case approved soon. Good wishes to the three of you! :)

Jorge
