Transiting Through China

I hope this is the correct forum to ask this question. My wife is heading back to Eastern Russia soon with her GC. We found the best route is Detroit to Beijing to Krasnoyarsk. She is worried about what will happen she she arrives in Beijing, she will have both her US GC and Russian passport and should only be there about 12 hours. Will she need a transit visa? If so, should she use her GC or Russian passport? Our plan is to set the Detroit to Beijing tickets in her married name and he Beijing to Krasnoyarsk tickets in her maiden name. Not sure if that will be a problem.

Any advice is appreciated.

She will not need a transit visa since she will be staying in the airport for less than 24 hours and will have a confirmed seat on an international flight out.

Stay out of Bejing is all possible

I was on a flight from Dallas to Manila, Caught AA to Los Angeles, and the got on Air China to Bejing and was suppose to fly to Manila.

Well for some reason American Airlines sent my luggage to Bejing instead of Manila, and we were suppose to pick up luggage in Bejing and recheck it.

Well we had couple of missing luggage, so we just went and filed a lost luggage (Of course no one could speak English there) and we were going to hop to our next flight and let the airlines figure it out. We had about 30 minute before the next flight, and were told we had missed the plane.

Well we were told since there was not a plane going to Manila in the next 24hours we had to immediately leave the country (while under police escort) and we were stuck on a American Airline going back to San Francisco.

Long story short, I will never go to China and especially Bejing...
