Proof of relationship for K1 visa (Beneficiary is Moroccan male)

Hi everyone!

I'm a bit worried about this proof of relationship requirements... How many pics do I need for each visit? Are kissing pics ok? Would you recommend adding pictures of his family with us or just of us in our Moroccan adventures?

I have for each trip: more than enough photos with friends and family but only 3 for each visit (making 9-12 pictures total), my flight itineraries for each trip, copies of the entry/exit stamps for each trip, some initial emails and the receipt of a care package he sent me... Proof of ongoing relationship is: flight itinerary (one-way ticket), my entry stamp to Morocco, a Moroccan affidavit stating that he supports me and that I'm living with him (Lettre de Prise en Charge) and a copy of my Moroccan carte de sejour....

Any other tips, tricks, info nuggets or visa recipes you guys want to dish over? I'd be really grateful for the advice.

All. Everything. I am married to Moroccan man. just make sure you keep the originals and always send copies. I usually go to Walgreens and look up coupon codes and get my pictures printed up really cheap. I can tell you right now that too much is not enough and you'd rather have more than enough than not enough evidence. Pictures with the family are awesome.

And don't forget your affidavits. Get them from his family your family your closest friends and have them all state how long they have known you, how long they have known him, how they know of your relationship, and how long you have been together and that it is a bona fide relationship and it is true and it is real.

Hi TiestoSoulmates :) thanks for the speedy answer.

Originals as in photos? They're mostly digitals from a DSLR camera printed on high quality laser printer paper... I added some as a screenshot from FB as a timestamp... looks a bit tacky but I digress...

After reading many threads on the subject, I believe my paranoia is only growing with this consulate to deal with... Gusfraba and patience with every delay I guess...

Lordy-loo those are gonna be harder to get as my family is not very happy with my decision... my mexican family (mostly my mom) thinks he's with me for a green card and I'm estranged from the US side (I haven't seen them in almost 10 years... and counting)...

Is it worth getting a pair of these affidavits from friends and maybe a copy of valid identification? even if they're not USCs?

Thanks again for your time :)

as far as I can tell you I did this by myself my I 130 was approved but my husband was denied the visa only because he overstayed his visa so we knew it would be denied. I did a waiver by myself as well and I got it expedited on my own. I did a lot of research read a lot of forums and got a lot of help from a lot of different resources online I only had one consultation with a lawyer and that was to pay her to go over my I 130 and make sure everything looks good. When it came to the photograph she said I did them right because if you look online it will tell you the best way to do it is to go ahead and print up actual photographs which is what they will want and staple them to an 8 by 10 piece of paper and be sure to write where the picture was taken and what are the names of the people in the photographs. when you have your package complete you will fasten them at the top with a fastener. I read on all these different websites where it says use the ACCO fasteners but to be honest with you when I called the USCIS they don't care how you do it as long as it's readable it's neat it's organized it's legible and is easy to find the referenced materials. as far as your affidavits go you need to let your parents understand that if he was only here for the green card he would not have gotten back to you after the break up in fact he would have never broken up to begin with if he was only here for the papers he would have stayed with you got the papers and then left you if that was the case. Plenty to understand that if he really didn't love you he wouldn't have given you another chance for you guys to work it out. I have to admit that sounds like its going to be a difficult situation especially with the breakup and they are going to ask him that in the interview I can promise you that.

I think what is most important is showing that you have been communicating and the time you have spent together. Photos on copy paper are just fine. If you have any written communication, that will help. Make your case organized with table of contents, dividers perhaps, and a black clip to hold it all, and make it straightforward. We didn't have any affidavits and his family did not approve, nor did I ever meet them. I showed some pictures, maybe a total of like 6, of when I went there two times. I also spent the summer there. I suppose kissing is ok, though it isn't really about that, but rather about showing you know each other well enough. Personally, I felt more inclined to be more conservative in the photos because I was in Morocco where you're not even supposed to show that type of affection outwardly. Sometimes, we weren't even in the same shot, but taken at the same location, because we took pictures of each other. I showed Skype records of our phone calls from beginning to end (I called him from Skype). Some records of communicating through Skype, though not a lot, some emails. Our relationship was mostly on the phone, and mostly very short conversations (2-3 minutes), though frequent and I explained this in my letter. I wrote a 3/4 page letter of how we met, what we had in common and why we enjoyed each other's company.

Oh that denial must've been a hard one to swallow. I'm glad I listened to my gut on behaving with the expiration dates of visas... they can be real suckers to get off your record. I have a USC friend in Seoul who overstayed her work visa and gave ESL classes on the sly... Needless to say, she got deported back to the States. He overstayed his American visa or the visa for another country? M wanted to stay in Mexico longer but I kicked him on the plane anyways because I knew in my gut that his record would be scrutinized eventually.

I've been doing my share of research and stuff and hope that everything goes smoothly. I read somewhere that if you organize everything like it is in your general cover letter (i.e. using the cover letter as an index) and stick to simple paper clips to separate everything would suffice, as long as it's organized. I will have to make some slight changes thanks to your advice and hopefully will be ready to send the I-129F tomorrow.

On my family... geez families are complicated and life is too short and complicated enough to go by someone else's norms. Our Moroccan men might come from taboo countries for these kinds of procedures and I know that there are some bad apples that make the rest look rotten. It took him 9 years to convince me he's the real deal. My mexican family wanted me to find a "nice, handsome, rich, blue-eyed european that will take care of you"... Been there, done that, didn't work, moved on. Those things aren't important, especially when said european cheated on me repeatedly and lied to my face after showing evidence. It doesn't mean that all Euro guys are trash... just the one I fell for. Same with any man from any country around the world who cheats on their SO. I've gotten gibs about M like "so how many camels are you worth?", "now that you live in Morocco does he force you to wear a hijab?" Come on people! Look outside of your little box and prejudices to embrace the difference!

End rant hehe. Thanks again for the advice :)

Thanks again for the great tips Golden Gate :) They are definitely noted and I will act accordingly. I was wondering about being conservative and asked M about it. His answer was that maybe it didn't matter so much because the people looking at the pics are American with the American mentality. Another friend advised me to be conservative as well. I preferred to stay conservative for the sake of not offending any conservative Moroccan who might be working in the consulate. Ya never know with these things...

My Moroccan in-laws are on the liberal side, but we don't show affection like that in the street or anything or in front of family. We do have some pics smooching but it's on the tame side and because at the moment we were alone (like on the way to the Sahara and other little trips we took while I was here the last two times and in Mexico, which is a hugely liberal country despite being majorly Catholic).

On to look for more pictures...
