I posted this in the NVC forum, but didn't get a response so I shall try it here. Thanks!

I've scanned all of my documents to reasonable sized PDFs, but I'm concerned about the quality not being good enough. Particularly the I-864. All entries are legible, but the 2D barcode at the bottom is certainly not clear enough to be scanned. But this is true even at optimum resolution. For those who successfully went through electronic processing, how high was the quality of your scans?

I think it sounds like you already know to try to scan that again so the barcode comes through clearly. That might be a good gauge on whether it is clear enough. I don't remember the size of my documents BUT I did get a checklist for my one son's I-864 because the dollar amount apparently didn't match the tax return. It absolutely did match, however, I think the scan made it slightly fuzzy and the person reading it couldn't be bothered to really look at it. My other son and I both had the exact same document sent but ours were accepted. So... I think that once you scan it, a great test is to print it and see how it looks as well. I assume they receive the electronically and then print them for the files and that's where they look at them. So scan and then print. Make sure it is clear.

Thank you so much for telling me about your experience. If I scan the pages on the highest quality, they come out nicely when reprinted. But then each page is 8MB, so just the I-864 is 70MB. Any time I lower the resolution and print them as smaller PDF's, the quality goes way down. I think I might just give up and mail everything in the old fashioned way. I'm sure it doesn't make that big of a difference. I hope, anyway.

Noooooo don't mail them lol. Can you scan them on high quality and then adjust the size for email after? OR just scan that main page on a higher quality and not worry so much about the rest. I just pulled my AOS file and it was 10MB total. The bar code on the actual AOS form looks crummy, too. So maybe that's not so much a concern. The bar code on your cover page is the important one. The one on the AOS form is probably nothing now that I'm looking at it. I say go for it, just make sure the numbers written in are legible. Make sense?

The paid AOS barcode sheet is perfect because I was able to print it directly from my email as a PDF, and is only 10kb or something. So that's good. It's just the I-864 that is not very clear. Every entry is readable, but I am so paranoid about this whole thing I can hardly believe it.

I used 75dpi for all the civil docs to get them small enough to send in one email. I had to send civil docs in one email and AOS docs in a second. If the AOS in not clear try 100 dpi.

5 mb per attachment. I"m unsure of the total mb per email. send as many emails as you need.

if you need to scan the I-864, then the pay stubs, etc.. all separately, then do that.

If you use Outlook, it will only let you send a maximum of 24 MB per email. I just reduced my PDF sizes a little more (I had a ton of military records) and was able to send it all in one. You should be fine, as NLR said you can send them as many emails as it takes. Good luck!

Thank you all so much for your help and patience! I think my moment of pure panic has passed. I have scanned everything and all looks good, and all attachments are under 5MB. I'm going to sleep on this and then hit "send" tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
